Exhaust Help

StangRey created the topic: Exhaust Help

Hello all, I am a new member to your forum and commend you all for a great site. I am not a boat racer and am not building one........what I am is a rc drag racer and as a winter project decided to build a quarter scale pro-stock. I will be using a modded Zenoah 27.2 engine in this car that should hopefully weigh in at about 20-25 pounds. I noticed that versions of this engine is very popular in rc boat racing which is why I have been reading everything I can here on your forum.
With my smaller 1.10 scale dragster I run the exhaust straight out the engine with a straight header and a Mac tuned (boat)pipe and it screams and runs very well. I would like to do the same with the Zenoah......straight header and a boat pipe of some sort instead of those large balloon style pipes. My queston to you gents is...will this work ? Any suggestions on which pipe to use? Header?
Thanks for your help.

Generally the LARGER belly pipes are for TORQUE over a broad rpm range.
In boats our interest is more biased mid range too top end rpm and using smaller volume pipes with different cone angles give us a power band better suited to our application.
