Brand New replacement RCMK crankshaft

scottcmb replied the topic: Re: Brand New replacement RCMK crankshaft

Thanks for your reply Scott, i have received an email from Mr Park at RCMK and he has advised me to send it back for a replacement that he will then send. But the thing that anoys me intensely is the fact I will be out of pocket for shipping costs to return this crankshaft that really should not have been sent in the first place.
To give you a clue as to how bad the movement this conrod has is DOUBLE the movement of my used cranks i have. Andrew is witness to this crank!!!.
And as far as just not worrying about it and putting it in my motor and see what happens, and IF it happens to shatter itself and take the whole engine with it i really cant see Mr Park replacing ALL parts that are damaged due to the fact that i am running a J&G V2 Top end!!.
I suppose i got the answers to the original question i asked and that is if anyone has come across a badly made crank like this before.
But I will vent my dissappointment that i have to outlay money to send this crank back to get the replacement sent with NO offer from Mr Park to reinburse me for the shipping i had to pay for!!!

Not knowing you were building with a J&G top end ... BAD CALL on my part with that comment

Hope it works out in the end for you.

I agree that sending it back for replacement is the best route. I also think you should not wait for an offer for them to pay shipping. They should reimburse your shipping costs upon reception of the crank if they confirm that it is in deed bad. Any reputable company would do so. I'm sure if you discuss this in a civil manner with them they will agree to help you out. If not, maybe take your business elsewhere in the future.

Personally, what I like to see from companies is cross-shipping. They send the replacement, while you send the bad one back...much less downtime...now that's great service, but unfortunately not many of them do that. It's usually only after you've built a trust relationship with the vendor. Anyway...like Scott, I hope it all works out for you.

Sometimes it's good to live in Denmark/Europe.
Here the rule by law is that if you within 14 days want to return an item bought on the Net, the company sends you a stamped label to put on the package. No questions asked.
The same goes for faulty goods. But then the rule of free returning works for two years. In that case the item will either be repaired or you get a new within "reasonable time".
Off course not allways that simple, as there are a few exceptions. But these are the main rules.
Should really be the same in the rest of the World.

Cheers! :cheer:

Just a Quick update. I have received the replacement crankshaft from Mr Park at RCMK today after sending it back.
And after checking this replacement i have found it to be within acceptable tolerances at the big end and also very noticable was how centered the small end was to the casting its VERY nice and even.
Mr Park also put in the package: 2x Piston rings and 1x Insulator block at no charge.
My guess is that it is his way of replacing the cost i incurred for shipping the bad crank back to him.

WELL DONE RCMK!!!!
