NFS 1" band 2-stage pipe

marc created the topic: NFS 1" band 2-stage pipe

I just got this pipe from Carmen at Needforspeed Hobbies. I had him do it with the internal stinger for me. Pipe looks good and strong. Looking forward to testing it. Will report back.

After a good inside out cleaning and a couple coats of high temp paint. Ready to go test!!!

Boy does that look familiar ;) I was having Carmen Custom make that version for me a couple years ago, they worked very well !!
If he is doing them now as a production version they will be a real winner !!

What Makes it a two stage pipe? The general shape looks similar to other pipes.

Yes they are like he was doing for you a while back. I didn't know he was doing you the internal stingers though. He will make just about any band you want and will add the internal stinger on request. As far as I know he's been offering all versions commercially...all buyers have to do is ask. :) Carmen has always been very flexible with his headers and pipes. Great guy to deal with.

The dual angle diverging cone makes it a 2-stage pipe. In other words, the cone from header to center of pipe has 2 different angles to it.

Scott,

Since you've tested with these, can you give me an approximate starting length measured along centerline of header and pipe...from exhaust port face to start of rear cone please? It will be in a mono with modded Zen.

Thanks Marc. I am going to build a new mono this winter and looking at using a hot pipe. The NFS pipe looks nice! Can you check the sound levels with the internal stinger in your report?

Marc,
Yes I had requested versions on his original 2" band and the 2 stage 1" band with internal stingers when I was doing the R&D shakedown of the 2 stage design.
This go's back a couple seasons for sure.
Length figure I do have is a a STRAIGHT line measurement on a 100* CC stainless header used on my mono or a 90* on the whiplash ....
Mid header at manifold straight back to END of band 11 1/4 to 11 3/4" was the optimum range. Stinger outlet tried to stay @ .430" I.D.
