Never seen one before but it sounds really rugged. The weight hopefully will be able to be preened off.
Give it a go and let us know how it goes.

I had worked with them for many years in the early to late 90's when they were private label manufacturing for Husqvarna. ( 22 & 25R .... 22 & 25 RC models )
Tough engines and long lasting for sure. Castings tho were always minimal having little extra where one might want to do some carving for mods, so you really had to keep them pretty close to stock.

* One issue that those earlier engines had that really hurt them as boat engines was the ignition coil placement ( Not sure about yours tho ? ) They used a small flywheel like a Zenoah g260 does but it was mounted BELOW the starter 180* opposite the cylinder. Getting engine set low in a hull or without a really steep angle tough.

Whats the flywheel coil like on yours ?

interesting facts thanks

as far as mine , i dont know i havent even removed the air cover yet,,
i think it will be my next project's engine though .
i like the design so far , as for the coil / flywheel i will look at it later and post it .. maybe i can fabricate some ideas into it

hey scott my maruyama has a top coil ,flywheel is the same as a homelite and a barrel type carb .
i couldnt get it running very well , with a closer look the exhaust spark screen was plugged up , i cleaned it then tried the engine , it ran but low rpm , i changed the plug ,i removed the spark arrestor completely and it runs awsome.. looking at this engine you would think it is a Zenoah clone other then the angled spark plug and the carb.
i'm thinking about installing it in my 36" mono. as stock no mods.

do you have any other tips on using this for a boat ?

Well that's great .. as for tips nothing really other than make sure bolt pattern on exhaust flange will accept Zenoah or homelite manifolds if going for a tuned pipe, if running the can muffler no worries.
A/V mounts, final drive your pretty much on your own to figure out.

Some pictures of actual engine your working with is worth more than a 1000 typed words

Wow its been a long time ...life gets busy things go on hold.. but here is a pic of the engine i would like to use.
with some careful mods i think it will work. i may even use the barrel carb to start with.
any ideas if Zenoah heads will fit ? i would like to have it water cooled. i know the block is different but the head gasket looks the same. i dont have a Zenoah to compare it to.
i plan on milling off the flange around the flywheel and fabricating a mount behind the flywheel and something to mount the clutchbell as well.
what about timing?

any one have ideas ?

Its been a long time for this post but..
I have to use the stock head for the coil is mounted to it. However I can remove most of the flywheel housing and mount the engine from behind the flywheel. I want to run it with out a clutch so I think I will do some research if a zen flywheel will work (considering the timing and air flow for cooling though, I'm not sure) I have a 813 walbro for it and I can make use of the stock muffler. Funny thing is there was no crank case gasket on this engine and it ran great. First thing is the flywheel issue.
Then the hacksaw and grinder need to get involved.

More to come....
