Maybe Scott will chime in here and confirm, but according to his review of the EVO version, this issue has been addressed. So if you indeed have an EVO version you should be ok. Here's a link to the review: www.modelgasboats.com/Magazine...RCMK_S-254_EVO/

RCMK is now machining the start dogs shorter, so you should not have any issues with the EVO series engines.

thanks guys i went back to that old link good read. just one funny question on the weekend my mate in the club was running he's new evo rcmk same as mine we got them the same time, and now he's starter packed it in the cranks thrust stuffed he's starter he even put washers in to give more space just in case put not enough . just sounds like the old models and not an evo one. so how can I check if mine has been machined down or not.

Quick reference is to look at end of crankshaft coming threw the drive dog.
The END of crank is slightly back from being flush on original & too long of ones. The shortened dogs place cranks end a few threads past the end of dogs threaded area.

** Pretty much ALL of the 100% billet drive dogs are too long, the newest EVO series dogs are a cast unit machined for final fit/finish.
