I never glue the foam in the hulls. Here we commonly use "pool noodles" for floatation in our boats. In many cases we just push them in and not even attach them, but to be safer simply use "zip ties" or "tie wraps" to tie them to the stringers of the hull. That way if the hull separates in a hard crash or flip, the foam will keep the stringers and what ever is tied to them afloat. So that should save your motor, radio gear etc...basically everything important.
Tying the floatation in rather than gluing it allows you to replace it if need be. The foam will sometimes suck in water and I usually pull it out after a season and replace with new foam.
Hope this helps!

You can simply drill the stringer to allow for a few tie wraps.

You can simply drill the stringer to allow for a few tie wraps. Just don't forget to waterproof the bare wood that will be exposed in the holes that you drilled

You can get pool noodles in many stores including pool supply stores and Walmarts among others. They are available in tube form and also in flat board shape which can come in handy for hatches and such.
