Exhaust set up question

Ska Fan 03 created the topic: Exhaust set up question

Hey fellas, got a pipe from a friend looks aluminum, doesn't have header, flange, or joint between the header and pipe. Im trying to set this pipe up to work on my easy vee with a 25cc homie on it.

I just wanted to make sure im ordering the right parts,

Here is the header and flange i was looking at,

and is thes the correct clamp to connect the pipe and header (the pipe has about a 3/4 id) IF this is the right part, can somebody explain how it goes together?

Would the clamp hold on that pipe?I see in the pic that it has a taper all the way on the intake end.May not seal to good and slide off.Sort of looks like this one www.majorsmackdown.com/ but this one looks like it's straight on the intake end and on output ,in case you want to add a muffler to quiet it down.I have a modded 30cc Ryobi/Homelite and made a muffler ,instead of a tuned pipe I made a muffler out of 1 1/2" aluminum tubing and a 3/4"by 1 1/2" reducer copper fitting on the end.I used 3/4" copper with 1/8" holes drilled around it, through the inside of the aluminum pipe and drilled a water outlet hole in the bottom of the exhaust end reducer fitting.I used silicone lined heater hose to connect from the header to the pipe.Had no problems with it so far.The water cooling helps in this ,plus quiets it down a little.Actually saw an increase in performance with this setup.I got the idea from an article on here about making a muffler for a tuned pipe but made it bigger.

Here's a pic of the muffler in the boat.Cost me about $20.00 to make. The exhaust end is reduced down to 1/2" from the 3/4"pipe.

Ska fan - Not sure if that exhaust manifold will fit the homelite give carlo a call to make sure, he will help you out.
That pipe looks like its for a nitro engine, they are connected using either a silicon tubing with zip ties or hose clamps or a teflon seal, installed by heating with a torch once you know your setting

ridge runner - the way that exhaust is cooled looks like water might have a chance to get back into the engine, does it run cool?

The CC Racing flange with not fit on the Homelite. Nor will the clam hold that pipe onto the header. Looks to me like you will have to weld the pipe to the header, or weld a coupler onto the pipe that will allow it to be clamped to a header. I think you are better off checking out the MajorSmackdown site listed above.

Procat,The engine runs cool. The jacket can be touched and held onto without getting burned. Also the pipe seems to be cooled than when I had it hooked up without the water cooling. It's a 2" drop from the center of the manifold to where the header starts into the hose.I had all the water going out the pipe, but it was too much so I put a Y to dump some out the side of the hull. Also the pipe has a down slope. Some of the water goes out of the exhaust tip and some goes out a water outlet I have drilled into the bottom end of the rear of the pipe and out to a fitting under my exhaust tip.
