Receiver & servo compatibility & wiring help please

davidschmeider created the topic: Receiver & servo compatibility & wiring help please

Hi Guys

I've been given few receivers & servos and would appreciate your help & advice with determining the wiring set up, ie which post is +ve -ve & signal for the following;

* Sanwa Dash AM 29mhz 2 channel
* Futaba FP-R114H AM 40mhz 4 channel
* HPI RF-1 AM 27mhz 2 channel
* E Sky EK2-0420 FM 36mhz 6 channel

Is the inner most post (closest to the middle of the receiver) always the signal?

Do all servos have the same wiring format ie signal, +ve & -ve?

Looking at the futaba & HPI receivers they have specific shape that ensures the servo plugs goes in correctly but if i want to mix & match I need to be sure the plug wiring matches the receiver wiring as I'm told its easy to fry a servo if I get it wrong.

Provided the wiring between servo & receiver are they all compatible ?

Again thanks for your assistance

Thanks Marc

for the link gave it whirl fried one servo ( I could smell something not good Sad Sad ).

My guess is that whilst I can work out the signal +ve -ve from the link, the issue that remains, is working out which post on the receiver is +ve & -ve, as the servos & receivers are different brands. Knowing the polarity of the receiver will allow me to switch the wiring order on the servo & battery plugs to suit the receiver.

I bought some futaba servos today so I should be able to work the polarity for the futaba receiver but dont want to cook these.

hence I still need some guidance with at the receiver end specific to the brand listed.

ps would the servo get fried if only one servo is plugged rather that two servos

I do not have ANY of the receivers you mentioned so it's hard to help, but on many receivers, especially old Airtronics (Sanwa) and Futabas, the servo slots are shaped so the servo plugs will only go in one way. In this case, following the servo pinouts posted earlier you should be able to figure out which lead is which. If you do not know which is + and which is -, you might very well end up frying the receivers, not just the servos.

If still not certain, I would contact the manufacturers directly. Sorry we can't be of more help.
