Boat wobbles alot

doubled created the topic: Boat wobbles alot

Hey guys ,

I have a newbie question :)

I went on the water to try the boat with new engine in and the hull was pretty wobbly at higher speeds. sort of scary to control.
Is this more user lack of running experience or i can do some tweaking to the hull? Or both. I'm new in rc boats, so there is definitely alot to learn.
The boat is the AQ V24 with Sikk 27(thx Stevo) and 275 prop. And it seams to run quiet wet.
Any suggestions? i want to take it back on the water tomorrow, planning to work on it tonight, so please fill free to shoot anything that could help.

Thank you !!

Could be coming from many areas or in combination ?

If hulls riding surfaces are not FLAT, this will cause hull to shake around.
Could be Chine walk caused by prop torque ... A thin and VERY sharp prop helps.
Check rudder alignment, it needs to be perfectly vertical when viewed from the rear.
Also check rudder linkage making sure you are NOT getting flex.

Thank you for a tip on the rudder alignment.
I run it more today , mostly playing with adjustments, i wish to read your comment regarding the ruder line up , before i went on the water.
Anyway i trimmed the steering down to like 40% of total travel, and it held quiet a bit , but i found another problem, at 3/4 of throttle hull is pulling to the right . Could that be pressure put on the ruder from the prop ?

Im sorry , what do you mean by riding surface ?

thank you

Riding surface is the hulls area that gets water contact.
If hulls bottom is NOT flat but has high or low spots, it will make the water tumble along this surface causing funky handling.

Typically this is the last 1/3 or hull at transom end that is the most critical.

Thank you for your response.
I spend past few days educating ,trying to catch the basics and the most critical aspects of the hulls, cg, hardware, props and so on. Lots of info available and very interesting.Glad there are people who dont mind to share their knowledge.
I am going to work on the hull for next few , and see what i could squeeze out of it. Im gonna move the stinger little to starboard, move the cg a little bit ,and try different props. I will in mean time thin one of the props used last time , hopefully i wont make it worst. I got it balanced both ways last time , i guess i had more luck than skills .
Will see .
Thank you Scott for the info.
