Trick paint jobs to expensive? ..... try this

B) Here is an idea for to try, we are having one of the graphic places that do 'wraps' on full size vehicles for advertiseing etc. do some custom wraps on our boats. The neat thing is if you get it damaged they have the file on storage so you can fix/re-do the boat. Many of the full scale boats you see in Hot Boats or Powerboat mags. have this done to them. They run in salt or fresh water and it seems to hold up ok. We are just now trying it out. The pics are of a couple of Expresscraft race vees, 40\" hull. Yellow one is for our shop and has 'carbon fibre' and flag etc., other hull is 'barbed wire' and flames etc.; price for a custom wrap on this size hull is $75-$100 retail. Larger hulls with more complex application (cowls, hatches etc.) will be in the $150 - $300 range. I'm having a 'Thunderboat' Aeromarine hull done with the mahogany woodgrain etc. ..... s/b cool.
Anyway, check out your local graphics shops and see what they can do..........
:S Sorry for the poor quality, used my cell camera and it is set on 'negative/reverse' or something and I'm an ol'fart with bad eyes so have tuff time using it. Will have some pics up on our website soon, check there.

Nice boats. I think we will see a lot more of these wraps as time goes on.

:cheer: A 'wrap' is made out of a 3M mylar with adhesive on one side that is applied with a heat gun to help form it to complex shapes. It is printed on with an ink jet type of printer I believe. I've used something like this on some of my cars to prevent rock chips etc.; it is called 3M Rock guard and you can get it at most auto paint / body supply stores. I've watched them apply a wrap to a funny car dragster and in about 3-4 hours it was finished with a super cool looking 'paint job/wrap'.
Here's website with lots of pictures of all kinds of vehicles, check it out.

As you can see from my \"avitar\" my boat doesn't have paint yet, it's still in primer and I'm filling and sanding EVERY night lately. I think you've got the right idea! I'm gonna look into wrapping my boat when I'm done sanding. Thanks for the great plan!!
