i have a 36in sprint cat with a Quickdraw motor bought it used without a prop. Tried to setup this summer using a 6717/3 and had a hard time trying to get rid of the low speed lag switched to an abc h2716/2 10 rake .50bar cleaver.and the boat ran fairly well. That prop now needs some work and looking for suggestions on other sizes might work on that boat. not racing just a good all around performance. Also need the best strut angle for a boat like that
thanks

You do not say which version Quickdraw you have. Is it a high rev or a high torque. This will have an effect on the answers to give.

With a high rev version you will be lacking some on the low end. Smaller props and spinning them up is what you want to do. The hi rev engines we told people to run them between 20,000 and 21,000 rpm when they entered the next corner. Usually about 20,500 rpm was common. In oval racing you had to run outside the oval. Coming down in the corners would slow down because of the low power in the low end torque area. This is why we did the high torque engines latter on. Not as much rpm but had much more torque for oval use. I will have to dig through my notes at the shop and see if I have anything written down for a cat with a hi rev in it.

The 36 Sprint doesn't make a good oval boat with a gas engine. That being said, I know you're not racing it, but that boat with a QD should be on the idle circuit at 50 MPH. Even with an average prop, that combo should be high 60s to 70s. Something is basically wrong with the set-up. The motor probably isn't even on the pipe at this point.

Much more set-up detail and pics will be needed for someone to help you get that going. No-one has more experience and knowledge on that boat, with many different engines, than Wally.

Wally builds the best SAW props for that boat. You can also go to Brent @ Prop Works West and Bob @ gforce hydros. They supply lots of oval style props.
