Mono c.g adjustment

Nic created the topic: Mono c.g adjustment

Guys what is the correct or better method to adjust or set a mono 's c.g . We experience some heavy winds from time to time and if your c.g is set to maybe 33 % and the boat is going well under normal conditions then you hit a day that the wind is strong the boat is all over the place . I normally use a 1 Liter fuel bag . 450 ml of fuel is enough for the 5 min of naviga M course we race . What should you do ?
A. Adjust the trim tabs for a nose down attitude ?
B. Fill the bag to 1 liter capacity for more weight and maybe shift the c.g to 35 -36 % ?
C. Go for a longer boat set up that will handle windy conditions better ?
In your opinion with the stronger engines what is the percentage for c.g on mono"s that's being used now ?
On the M course should we rather use offshore boats than heat racing boats ?
Sorry for all the questions your input would be appreciated thank you !

Might help a little

If you learn to use noodle right it can be a huge advantage if you need to move CG (e.g. calm vs rough water) -

Have a few sets of noodle and add some weigh to tip of noodle (tape weigh inside noodle or glue) to one set , a little more to the second set and none in 3rd set. If you need to vary CG some based on water then just exchange noodles for heavier or lighter

Only talking a couple ounces of weigh here - something that Andy from AC has taught me over many calls and emails -- it works

Whatever you use for floatation make sure it's secured in boat - if you take a violent roll - it may toss the floatation out

Andy from AC explained noodles on page 3 pictures page 7 explains it better and also talks about "sealing noodle" and few other ideas
