With my Futaba Fasst 2.4, I run the antenna inside of the radio box on all my boats. Never had an issue. Not sure I would trust some of the other radio manufacturers.

Get an engine kill in case of a runaway.Use a voltmeter to monitor battery voltage closely, all the usual precautions
