I have - hard to keep on and when it gets wet --- over time it rusts whatever is under it

a heat shield from thin aluminum is usually better and doesn't rust stuff out

That or use silicone heat tape... I think Carmen Blois at Needforspeed Hobbies had it. The glass tape is a pain to get to stay in place on our little pipes.

Id want my pipe raw to let cool off quicker
I've tried all kinda of things on my drag car headers but as mentioned will cause rust . I was told when I switched to a turbo car never run any kind of wrapping on a hot exhaust pipe as it needs to breath to cool down . If it's wrapped it will hold that heat for a very long time IMHO and others from the turbo world

The lava shield goes on the boat or hood not the pipe
