Before you commit, price out the wood cost vs a Zippkits cost. the last time I priced out wood for a cracker is was well over 100 bucks.
Here is another link (power petes website is still up but missing many pics, follow this link and navigate the site as you would normally )

Thanks Bob. What strut should I buy for the crackerbox? I will be using a modified homelite engine. I noticed that the homelite has a square drive output. How do I go about hooking all this up to the strut?

What about the stuffing tub or tubes? How far to the side on center is the rudder mounted and how deep should the rudder fin be in the water? Size of rudder? Trying to find answers to these questions, I don't see much info on this.

Thanks

Joe's (Zipp kits) build / set up sheet is the best I have seen for "Everything you wanted to know about C-Box building and set up"
If you read it all the questions you have should be answered

I think Bob would know more than me on them -- I'm just a sport / play boater in northern Canada - only few guys run boats up here

I tend to run play boats

I don't race. Crackers popularity comes and goes. I had a couple wood crackers, sold em.

If you could find a local or near building supply place that has thin plywood you could build cheaper.I found a place local to me that has interior grade 1/8",1/4" and 3/8" that is nice and smooth on both sides . the 1/8" runs about $24 for a 4'x8' sheet. It would have to be sealed good, but a lot cheaper than buying it and getting it shipped from,Aircraft Spruce,Balsa USA and National Balsa for aircraft grade plywood.
Zippkits does have nice kits if you decide to go that way.The frames are a little off from side to side for the frames on the Dunlap plans, but just trace 1/2 of a frame on something stiff and use that as you pattern for each frame.I was lucky enough to get the revised frames off Oxford County Crackerboxes site before it disappeared.I built a Dumas from a kit and then built one from the Dunlap plans. If I decide to build another it will be either a Zippkits or a down sized one from the Dunlap plans.Maybe around 42" long, instead of the 49".Would probably have a Homelite or a stock Rev Unlimited in it.I still have my girl drivers I got from Larry Broman waiting on the shelf.
