Securing wires in radio box

jtharp52 created the topic: Securing wires in radio box

I am building my own radio box. Using a Y harness and also have a kill switch unit so I have lots of wiring to stuff in there. I know you can "fold" some the servo wires into bundles and secure them with zip ties but looking for some ideas on how to keep all these bundles and assorted loose wires from bouncing around in the box.

You can sandwich the wires between foam. Place some foam on the bottom of your radio box and then some on your radio lid. I found that door weather stripping works well.

I use a product that I call snake skin. It is a nylon woven tube that will expand and hold all your wires neatly in place.

II use Marine Goop to secure wires (just a dap and put masking tape over - once it sets pull tape off - clear and will NOT move) -it allows you to hold single wires in place as well

I use the same to glue noodles in hatches and in the boats

You can get self adhesive foam backed pads that allow you to fix a zip tie through.

Most hobby electronic shops keep them.

J, I make my own servo mounts and receiver platforms in my radio box's. The receiver platform is above the bottom of the box by 3/8". I milled a 1/4" step on the bottom side creating a place to the stuff extra wire from the servos. The only wires in the open are from the on/off switch and the battery pack. Hope this helps, Brian
