A LITTLE SOMETHING I WHIPPED UP IN MY GARAGE

Steve Seebold created the topic: A LITTLE SOMETHING I WHIPPED UP IN MY GARAGE

I was bored last week so I made a new rudder and standoff for my Y6 mono.

Please tell me what you think. Should I make it a production item?

Looks good and strong. I like the hidden water line, never liked a long rudder standoff with water line having to run back to the transom so far. It would kill the look IMO. I would be concerned about the weight. Keep your CG in mind.

$65.00 standard lengths (whatever Speedmaster offers) $85 for custom lengths. I'll make them ANY length you want. Water pick up, right side, left side or borh sides (add $10.00 for both sides).

Standoff made drom 6061 aluminum. rudder made from 7075. This one weighs 8.3 punces.

Watch for dual pick up standoff with internal plumbing coming soon.

Next project, OUTDRIVES. Then dual pick up standoffs (ANY length). No price yet. Probably in the $75.00 range.

I put a warranty on my parts that if it fails due to material or manufacturing defects, I'll repair it, replace it or refund your money. YOUR CHOICE.

Well... good luck with it, When we introduced this design concept almost 10 years ago no one was interested. I think we sold 3 rudder units.

Thanks Bob, but I didn't do this to make a lot of money. I just got tired of the crap that Speedmaster sells.

Wow. Every day's a learning day. I thought Speedmaster RC boat parts ( rossisales ), were a pretty decent thing. Not all of their gear may suit everyone's needs I understand, but I certainly didn't think that any of it would quite fit the crap tag yet

Oh well, in any case that's a nice bit of hardware anyway.

I would consider the Dual water pickup for my next build, nice and clean.
