Flex shaft grease

Has anyone done any experimentation with the greases used on the flexshaft? I am wondering if there are some that stay on longer than others? Also the difference between synthetic and regular?

Mike Sr -- Alice makes a Witches Brew Shaft Grease , I don't know what is in it and really don't want to know but it works fine. I'll see if she will make up a sample for you and let Ted deliver to you on his next trip. I need to check the phase of the moon so I can tell when She is able to brew another batch. I think She has some dried frogs and lizzards and I know She picked up some Shrimp Heads with full whiskers at the VooDoo Race and dried them , they are not as good as the fresh ones but they work almost as good if She takes time to soak them. ;) Ed

I have a wintertime grease that I get from one of the auto parts stores, it turns to a gel and stays in the tube a long time, but as soon as the water warms up it doesnt last long again. I am thinking the synthetics may be the way to go??

I would like to try some of the Alice's witches brew, sure sounds like it may work well?? I obtained a quart of graphite that I want to mix up in some and try that, The stuff sure is messy though and I keep putting it off!!

Ted has 2 of those Evolution riggers now, one for each hand ha!!

I have not tried any of the "special mixes" but really loved the Mercury 2-4-c lube. It just is harder to find around here these days...most local dealers switched to a generic brand that is far from being the same quality. I am currently using Lucas Oil Synthetic bearing grease. Seems to work ok, but I find it a little on the "thin" side. It could probably benefit from being mixed with graphite. Might have to try that sometime. :)
