i,m about to take my gas boat out for the first time...any tips on things i should do before i put it in the water?can i run the motor out of water?any tuning to do?ect...

Start with the engine manufacturer's recommended carb needle settings. You can start and run a motor out of the motor for a short period of time, but you must be careful not to overheat it. I recommend running at least a couple tanks of gas through it before doing running it wide open for long periods of time. Typically to break in a motor it is best to vary throttle a lot during the first few tankfuls. If the manufacturer sent break in instructions, follow them. Double check every screws, nuts and bolts on the boat for tightness. Bring some basic tools with you to the pond and make sure you have a safe retrieval method. :) Good luck!

marc your a champ mate.. ;D i really appreciate your help..my gas boat didn't come with mixture settings from factory! so even though its not a nitro motor it still needs breaking in?. can you suggest some settings for me mate?thanks again
