A lots of question for a first boat building

paskawaloulou created the topic: A lots of question for a first boat building

Firstly let me introduce myself

My name is Pascal, im from Québec, Canada...so sorry for my english, I use google traductor

I intend to build a fiberglass boat of about 50 inches ... I'm new in this area, so I have SEVERAL questions and need some suggest

What type of boat is better in the wave?

What do you suggest as equipment??(motor, drivetrain, rudder, cluch, etc)in best quality/price

Do you have some suggest for the design of the boat(for good perf in wave)deadrise, length, width, height

fiberglass or wood?

thx

Welcome to MGB :woohoo:

Deep V hulls work best in the waves
Simplest and more available is the ZENOAH G260 25.4cc engine

In Canada, Would research AC boats,
They do some REALLY WELL built fiberglass hulls in the mid 40" sizes.
Really bigger boats into the 50" or larger class are hit and miss in quality and performance. The AC "Lazer" is one fine boat, FAST !! and handles chop like a champ !
Rig with Speedmaster hardware per instructions ya got a 1st class play boat and very worthy racer too

Thank you for the answers, but when I said build a boat, it's really all build. I want to do the fiber glass hull...Its why I request the last question about the design of the hull(deadrise, width, height, length, etc)

another question...whats de difference between a inline strut/rudder and a conventionnal(like the aqua rio 51z)

Honestly .... IMO strutter's SUCK !!
The prop blast deflecting off rudder blade creates more ill handling traits than positive ones.

A single rudder blade right side of prop and behind it works best !!

Deadrise 22 1/2 degrees per side. length 45 to 48 inches, height 5 to 7 inches, hardware, see photo.
