High Torque servo.

BrandonC created the topic: High Torque servo.

Hi Guys

After the little problem with my carb and compressed air I'm putting together an order of parts and so on which will hopefully finish my mono off once and for all.

I'm going to get a high torque servo for the rudder as the one I have is identical to the throttle servo with plastic gears.

Has anyone ever used the Hitec 755HB servo? It doesnt have metal gears but uses this stuff called Karbonite (Look out Superman :cheer: ) which is supposed to be much better than the normal nylon and are not as expensive as metal geared ones. Are these servos good rudder servos or am I better off getting the more expensive Metal geared ones? The metal geared version is the Hitec 755MG.

All the best,

Brandon.

I have never used that servo but I know people who have. Stay with a servo with metal gears for the rudder. If you use other than metal gears, it won't be a question of "WILL IT STRIP" it will be a question of "WHEN WILL IT STRIP". And they NEVER strip at a good time.

Ive decided to go with the Airtronics 94162Z Hi-Torque servo. Its more compact and a little more powerfull than the Hitec 755MG.

Any opinions on this one?

Looks like an ok servo for a mono and possibly a cat. I would use it in a hydro or rigger though. BTW, it's not as strong as the 755MG. This one has 115oz-inch @ 4.8V and 144oz-inch @ 6.0V according the Airtronics specs. The 755MG has 167oz-inch $ 4.8V and 200oz-inch @ 6.0v according to Hitec Specs. I use the 755MG in basically all my boats. For the price it's unbeatable in my opinion.

Hmmmm, must have got the specs mixed up with another servo I was looking at. Ill go with the Airtronics servo as I can get it from the same place as Im getting a whole bunch of other stuff aswell.

But I'll keep the Hitec in mind for future projects.

Thanks.
