I'm building a 66" cat (Killer Kat thread) You can probably find every answer you need there!! Scott, and others, plus the other threads on this site, have given me alot of info. But for your one question, you'll get 10 different opinions.Personally,I'm going flush surface drive. Hope this helps...and welcome aboard!!! B)

Well it's true you may get 10 diff views you may also talk to people who have Vern's Cats - I have had 8 of Verns - 5 of the 54" and 3 of the 60"

Vern's Cats will take almost any power you want - of the Cats three are twin side by side builds including a 54"

they like (singles) big power so either a QD 33 or one of the new 29 cc - the RCMK 520 would be perfect for the larger cat

Use around 31.5% to 33% for a Center of Grav

keep strut level or flush with bottom to start - mount in center - no need to offset

rudder 2 1/2" to the right (single rudder is fine) have the leading edge of the rudder in line with trailing edge of prop (I use Speed Master long round bottom strut and 4" rudder or 5")

email me if u need a hand This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

check Misty Creek RC Boats on utube I have 12 videos (I'm guessing) on Vern's Cats
here is couple 54"

Hi,
Welcome to the site. B) You really can't go wrong with the tech articles that are presented here. B) Also most of the guys here have plenty of experience and you can draw from that, so good luck with the build and if you have any more question someone or several people here will set you straight.
