Very nice indeed. I like the stringers tabbed into the transom like that. What kind of wood are you using though? Looks different than what I'm used to seeing.

Hi Mart.

Your Navahos are just beautiful. I try to build my own wooden 56" in a hull style close to that.

A few questions:
- The stringers in your boats look like 6 mm plywood. Is that for Zenoahs?
I plan to put a 10-11 hp Blata in my (wooden) boat. What dimensions of stringers would you recommend for this? (I have some 12 mm plywood teak in stock).
- I see you have carbonfibres in the engine compartment: Is that for strength or some sort of heat protection. Or is it just for the looks?
Could I have any use of carbon in my wooden boat?

Any advice is welcome :)

Cheers

Hi Woodie,
Glad you like my boats i just shipped the blue one to Sweden this morning and have another bound for Norway next week lol.
Yes the stringers are 6 mm hardwood ply and yes for zenoah power or similar.Ive used this thickness many times for stringers on other boats with no problems. All my stringers are glued in with a bog mix of milled fibres and resin then i use a good grade glass tape either side and this makes for a very strong setup. For larger motors or modded motors id say yes by all means go thicker but no need to over do it if you use a decent quality ply and glass them in well.I like to have the tape come up at least half way or more on the stringers so i tend to use 3" tape. The carbon is there to add strength as its laid in when i laminate the hulls.Stops any flexing in that area ;) .A guy who looked one over tried to twist my hull by hand to test it and couldnt thats how strong they are ;)
I make a mix of fibres and resin for strakes and fill those with that then paint with rtesin and lay my surface tisue then a layer of 300 csm matt followed by 1 layer of 450 biaxial cloth and then the carbon,i do this all one after the otherwhile wet so as to reduce resin and keep the weight down but the strength up to a max.
For your woody id stick to just glassing things in well and it should be fine.12 mm stringers would work but you will need longer mounting bolts than standard most likeley but then your engine mounts might be custom made anyway?.

Hi Mart.

Thank you so much for the advices. It's all for keeps!
About the engine mounts: Everything about my boat is invented from scratch, and that goes for engine mounts and many other things too.
So expect many more "stupid" questions in the future. :silly:

You sent one to Norway! Thats allways near by me in Denmark. Actually I will be off for a fishing-vacation in Norway in about 2 weeks.
Wonder if I will see your boat terrorising the norwegian fjords?

Cheers!

Hi folks!

I`m that mystical Norwegian... he he

The boat is going to be driven in some small waters, 50 km north from Oslo.

I`m really looking forward to have a blast with this boat.

It`s going to have a Monster Energy theme, painted white and black with some green
stripes.

I will post some photos of my other boat that have this theme.

Hi m8
Ive been busy building ill post a cpl of pics of your new hull when i get the hull out of the mould :) .Your going to love how this hull handles.I had the customer with the orange and white one round yesterday and he says his is over 50 mph with a modded zen and handles the rough water really well, ill post more videos soon of his and mine which should be ready for her first outing very soon.
Monster energy sounds good ive done a cpl of boats with that theme myself, the lime green in the decals is spectacular.I bought quite a few on ebay ages ago from a guy who makes them, theyre actually very nice and not expensive either.
Mart
heres a vid of his hull now after adding two drivers(stig off top gear kids shampoo bottle lol)they look cool.
