MGB Warpath Rigger

Woodie replied the topic: Re: MGB Warpath Rigger

Hi Marc.

I have to admit, that I am very impressed. This rigger looks like a winner and the manual is very precise and instructive.
It seems to set a new standard, and without knowing much about riggers, I think it looks like the birth of a new class in its field.
Good job!

Congrats and cheers! :cheer:

I've looked at the various Riggers for a while - most were over priced, under built or I just didn't like the look

I like I can build this myself, with my touches, and not spend a whole lot of $$$$$

I also like the look from front and sides - it just looks like the was some serious thought put into this build.

Kind of looks like a jr to Scotty's twin engine thumper

Seroiusly looking forward to doing this in Spring - already ordered one from Marc
(have to buy more goodies for wife before I meantion 'another boat'.........lol

Cheers

Randy

Just received a WARPATH rigger from Marc ... Man this thing should FLY !!
Light as a few dozen feathers  with the design being so very K.I.S.S.
There's nothing there without a purpose keeping the design very straight forward.

After a few months working on the Twin my first thoughts were upon opening it ... How cute, a mid size nitro hull. WRONG !! just the perfect size racer using a single gas engine :P

Now getting it prepped & rigged .... Time does grow on tree's, right ?

Scott / Marc
This is my first Rigger
What hardware should I look for - I like the strut / rudder combo where bracket is all 1 piece (I don't know who makes it)

and what props should I look for ?? I see a VooDoo 6520 / 2 SS on Jims .... ???

Thanks

The hardware and prop I use is listed in the instruction manual. I've had good success with ABC 3014/2 and 3016/2 both cupped up a bit...well actually a considerable amount on the 3014. Even stock it's not too bad and will put you in high 60's but if you want to run in the 70's it needs to be cupped up. Not had much luck to date with the 6719/3, but they should be usable with some tweaking. I'm sure as Scott and Will get to playing with the boats they will come up with some great suggestions... my water is way too hard for more testing right now! lol as is your's I'm sure!

Hardware is also listed in the manual...I use the round bottom extended hydro strut from Speedmaster and the straight rudder on shortest bracket (1-1/8" I believe). I like the separate rudder/struts cause you can put stuff wherever you want, but that's just me. I run my rudder on the port side, but I'm hoping someone will also try the starboard side and report back...if not, that will be one of the first things I try come soft water, cause I never got around to trying it. If you go with the combo setup, check spacing. I like my rudder C/L to be inline with the outside of the tub. That puts the rudder C/L at 2.25" from the strut C/L. Again that's just me though.

I've never tried a 6520 on anything to be honest, so I don't have a clue if it would be any good.

* Insane make one of the combo strut/rudder ... for their rigger I believe.

EDIT: actually here is one they make for their hydro...might work. I would check spacing though...the Warpath tub is only 5" wide on the OUTSIDE. www.insaneboats.com/index.php?...3ec01a819453181

I will not be going with the 30 series props. I will be trying a variety of 2716's, 2718, 2816, 2818, 2916, 2918 and 2920's. Will also see how one of Brents 6719/3 790's do on it.

Marc..i will be putting the rudder on the starboard side on mine.

No clue what the prop search will uncover ... within my prop box are the usual suspects noted along with other lesser knowns such as ...
1967, 2170, 7021, 65x120, 65x150 and some exotic profiles from VooDoo sent as testers over the past few years

Yup, new boats are fun to tweak on !

I like the Insane one but can't seem to get them to answer as to how wide it is - they only say it's what they use on their rigger but no measurements yet

Thanks
