Aeromarine Pro Offshore Cat... TWIN!!!

marc created the topic: Aeromarine Pro Offshore Cat... TWIN!!!

This is my biggest project this year! A 50" Aeromarine Pro Offshore Cat. It will be powered by twin side-by-side RCMK Rear Exhaust engines...should be a blast!!! :drinks:

Same rotation. I was going to go counter, but I know it will limit my prop selection way too much. Brent at Propworks West is prepping me a few screws for it now. Have to get it built!

I read somewhere that two same rotation engines might have considerable handling problems like very bad left turning ability and strog propwalk. What do you think of that? Because I also think to star building the same AM cat, by the way can you actually use MHZ revrse kit www.modelgasboats.com/Magazine...HZ_Reverse_Kit/ for the rear exhaust engines?

Apparently the same rotation isn't really such any issue on these boats. I've gotten feedback from guys with twin cats and monos turning same rotation and handling just fine, so I am giving it a try. :) Getting reverse rotation props and cables is a pain, and would limit the selection quite a bit.

As for reverse rotation kit, it is not required with the RCMK rear exhaust engine since you can already buy the RCMK in normal or reverse rotation. :drinks:

See this link: www.gizmomotors.com/index.php?...emart&Itemid=56

* notice the option to select Normal or Reverse rotation. :)

I plan on buying a CW rotation then the flywleel/crank & starter parts to convert back. Have to try it out at least

Cool never knew RCMK has two types of motors!
Thank you Marc!
It's just that my friend in St Peterburg has an MHZ cto cat and I've personally seen how bad it is in left turns...although this is a narrow boat and probably is more affected by the propwalk than an AM Pro 50"

My respect Marc for info and sharing with Aeromarine PRO CAT,

before I saw it only on catalogs and dealers sites ... never life.

I will be waiting any building steps, good luck!

I think it is important to try and keep both props as close to center as possible. I've been told 1/2" space between both props...calculated with the biggest diameter prop that you would use of course.

A lot of the European twins have the props coming out of the sponsons, that puts them very far apart. In such installations I would most definitely go with counter-rotation.
