Hi all well, can ennyone let me know if im on the right track . im currently putting together a 50 cat hull from forabuck, (i hope you guys won`t scald me for my hull selection , im a sport boater not racer (yet)...(

im just working out where to place the engene in this hull at the moment ive got the engene 26 zenoah from spark plug to transom sitting at about 15 inchs . is this about right it seams a little far forword . all info would be great....

You need to mount all the hardware, radiobox with servos, etc. on the boat. Then place the motor and pipe in the hull and move it around til you find where it balances where you want. Engine placement from transom is irrelative. If you mount it 15\" from the transom, that does not mean it will balance at 30% (15 inches).

yer what im asking was more like ive got the hardware on and every thing in the hull.
where it will go... some say to mount hull up at 26% others say between 30to 35 %..
im just seeing what people recomend that have these hull size.
at the moment ive got it set at about 32%. .. im just wanting to work out best place
or what others have set there boats up ...

saying 15\" inch from the transom i was making it easy for poeple reading it . i do know that you set a boat up with the hardware mounted. other wise its not going to be this 30 to 35 % is it....
but i dident want to set it up to far forword or to far back. thats all......

32% sounds good to me...especially if your motor is stock, might even want to bring it back a little.
I would run it at 32% though. Just my opinion. Mind you I have no personal experience with that hull but I think that should work.

the engene is goin to be mod 26 going into it. its going to have lightened
piston and releved, mod jug and terminator carb or 257 carb .
dont know what these terminator jug head kits are like from performance-unlimited.ment
to be ok. will see once instaled. props to start with are propshop 7015/2 & 7016/2.

yes ive heared people placeing motors back as far as 26%, but thort 32% seemed ok , but
i dont want it to far forword or to far back. so can thay even go ferther back then 30%.
35% forword seams realy to far forword. with everthing in the hull other then tank with
with fuel .it balances out at about 32% from measuring lenth of hull .



so if i went back a bit would that still be ok with the mod 26 or then should i stay at 32%

That is difficult for me to answer...I have never had that hull... I think 32 is pretty close thought.

i have the same 52 forabuck hull with a mid modded motor and pipe with the balance point was already set @ 32% from past owner ... and it always runs wet ... got sick of adjusting it and getting no where so i just left it and have fun

Doesn't look wet in that picture! Don't see ANY water coming off the sides of the sponsons. Could be simple a prop issue. Just a thought.

Yup, have to agree with Marc on our smaller race boats 32% is where you should be give or take a few. On your larger sport boat, less power, more weight you might be able to get away with less. The faster you go the further forward you have to be, we set our hulls to run around 60 mph so we need the weight forward. Hope this helps.

ill agree also with marc, it looks fin.

ive got my hull set at 32 persend and run in on ruff water . if running down wind on flat water it dose loose top end but running it in to a strong head wind it goes great dosent run to high or to wet at all. yes i did have lots of trubble with prformace but that was because of a over worked crappy motor i had perchased of somone . i ended up running it with a stock motor tuned pipe and a 7016 prop and it goes realy good. for the stock motor . im looking at trying my omin race motor in to it soon and see what i can get out of it. now you have me thinking i might do that this week and will let you know if it goes as fast as my 56 apache with the motor out of it .

also is that a mono hull in the back ground . remember a cat will always ( i think) run flatter then a mono. as there dirent hulls. but you might want to just try props . i realy now after lisoning to the posts from mark and scott and other racers props realy do make the world of diffrence.
