Hi Gasworx.

That's a beautiful boat. I love the hardware. Those drives are really cool.
But should'nt the trim tabs be mounted in an angle to follow the bottom?

Cheers! :cheer:

the idea is that the tabs help the boat get on the plane then once the props are out of the water and the transom airates the trim is then adjusted by the drives, keeping the trim tabs out of the water reducing drag

The REAL boat picture looks to have I/O drive as semi submerged having props just under the bottom of hull.

The MODEL and it's drives are full on surface drive and by the looks of it mounted quite high above the transoms bottom edge.

Now JMO ... But experience would tell me that If and when hull got up on plane props would be so shallow only running off there tips your going to have massive slippage and inefficiency troubles. Also as hull corners the outside props will lose there bite on the water all together ? :S

I could see however a single drive low in the V of transom working better.

Please don't take this as tearing apart your build, I am just seeing issues I question and sharing those thoughts. I could be very wrong and hull works super !!

Killer looking rig never the less !!

I have to agree with Scott but... does the boat have enough weight to keep the props submerged? If it does, then I'll bet you've got a killer setup there!!!!!!! You've got to post some vids when complete!!!!

How much does she weigh as is?

Keep it up and good luck!!!

I agree with Scott and Isuzu.

But as this seems to be a very deep vee, the drives (props) maybe will have sufficient contact to the water, if as much weight as possible is placed backwards.
About the trim tabs I still think they must be set in an angle to follow the bottom at the stern. One has to remember that this is a MGB, that proportionally will run much faster than the original boat. This means less contact to the water and more need for the trim tabs to touch the water - simply in order to control the boat at high speed.
And then again: A perfect MGB should never need trim tabs, so dismounting the tabs might give the best result.

Just my opinion.

PS: Gasworx. Your boat looks great! It's up to you to decide what to do. Many advices are not allways equal to best advices.

Cool project .............Not sure about your tabs . but I would try the drives as this one seems to be able to run pretty good ---- - guess it might depend on ride heigth and CG

just my 2 cents

www.offshoreonly.com/forums/fo...b-location.html

this boat is running twin counter rotating rcmk rz254, the CofG is at about 27% of the running surface, the boat is 62". this is only an experimental hull and not the finnished product, modifications, steps and a pad are to be added once it has run to make the hull a "jack back".

oversized tabs or K planes

here you can see the trasnsom has been cut away, this allows the drives to run higher

the tabs are well oversize on the model as to mimic the fullsize boats
