No you do not want to bring the right tab down unless to prevent torque roll or to give MORE gripping in the turns. With what you have told us so far, I think I would try bringing the rudder back to behind the prop and sharpening the prop. The rudder extension can always be removed if it doesn't help or makes it worse, but I really think it will help. My XXX Outerlimits was doing the same thing with the rudder in close like you have it. Not as bad, but was still doing it. As for the CG, before you start drilling new holes and new flex cable, etc...try a wet towel in the nose to get about 30%. If that helps, then you can move the engine. Take it one step at a time though. Well do the first two, which are to sharpen the prop and extend the rudder. Run it and see. Then add the wet towel in the nose and see what that does also.

Thanks Marc... I'll do that and see. I put this thing together just to fart around with. I'm running a stock can muffler on a stock Zen 26. After seeing the potential of what this boat could possibly do, I think I'm going to ramp it up... if I can get the issues resolved. I don't understand how moving the cog forward could help... but after seeing your boats and some of the other guys... I'm definitly going to try it.... Thanks again.

The CG as it is, might be ok with the power you have in it now...do the rudder and prop and see. Then doing the towel thing for adjusting the CG is a snap and will quickly show you if it gets better or worse.

just a side note here but adjusting the rudder angle can also have some dramatic affects on a boats handling as well & as far as improving the performance of the motor goes, the first thing you should invest in is a tuned pipe.

I have one for it already, I just haven't put it on yet. I wanted to get it tweaked first to see if it would be worth it. I'm going to try the things Marc said and see what happens. I sharpened and balanced the prop today after work and had to try it. Just that alone help alot. I'm going to extend the rudder tomorrow and play with cog. Hopefully it will work out. If not, I have a 50" Jersey Skiff going to arrive tomorrow I bought, I'll put everything in it and scratch the shocker if it don't work out.
