New Apache now in Russia

kirill1958 created the topic: New Apache now in Russia

Hello! Long time no see!
As I have written many months earlier I've started AM apache 56" build with twin Bonzi inline.
So after almost a year of waiting and building the boat is almost ready, I will post some more pics after the test run, must admit that it is a bit heavy and I had some problems with counter rotating props (couldn't get them) so switched to normal ones.

May be someone have alredy used inlines or MHZ gearboxes, what should I expect in terms of performance? May be there are some things I have to know before I run it for the first time.

The custom airbrushing IS stunning, Matrix theme came out quite handy ;) [img]

Beautiful boat! Please post video when you can! The exhaust, is it just header into a muffler, or is that a tuned chamber? Awesome build!

Oh yes I will, I will post some pictures when it's ready and a vid when it's running, will try to film it from the real boat.
Pipes are "tuned pipes" from MHZ ordered em along with the gearbox. I really want to run it! However we still have some big chunks of ice floating in the rivers and lakes are still fully covered with it :S

Please don't take this as negative, but do you think it would be possible to keep both header lengths about equal? I think both pipes will tune quite differently the way they are right now with the front engine having a header much longer than the rear. Just an observation. I think I would try moving the outer pipe forward and making it's stinger longer to get back out the transom. Make sense?

Yes, thanks for the advice, haven't thought about that to be honest, but all this is a trial fit, thus I can still play around with the parts.
Thank you Marc! ;)

These are no tune pipes. These are mufflers from Zimmermann. Excellent mufflers, they add a little bit of power but not comparable to a pipe.
The engine will give you more power as you need so I think this is a really nice setup. I like the carbon hull, looks great!

Actually Andre you are quite right! I couldn't remember what they were as I have ordered them like 4 months ago.. actually the whole build lasts from august 2009 - it takes ages to get all the parts from the US :(

This is purely a show boat, not a racer, we do not have a twin class in Russia, I've build it as a cool "everyday relax" boat which can take loads of wake (I live close to Volga river which is 1 mile wide and there are ALWAYS waves there, can not run my Conquest there)

That's why I went for custom airbrushing - no risk of damaging it in a heat race. And it's not that I need loads of speed or power. Just a nice, big sunday boat.
For heat racing I am building 50" AM Scorpion carbon kevlar also. B)

I will run it in the begging of may - the likely time when ice will melt completely to run boats safely.

Here is two other pictures of the boat (2nd just as I have recieved it, 1st airbrushing is not complete, before vanish)

That boat is WILD!!!! Love the airbrush art!

For that, I think you have built the perfect boat! I wanted to do one of those also, but haven't gotten around to it, yet. :) The Scorpion sounds like a cool project also...keep us posted on that one too if you don't mind. I've always like the look of the Scorpions.

Oh thank's very much!
By the way you people are the first to see it! We have similar forum but in russian, I have just mentioned the "large boat, not for racing" there, just want to surprise the mates! :woohoo:
Again I am very pleased to hear that as this is the reason I have this boat! You should really build something similar, this is a lot of fun, just some relaxing running on your local pond\river after all the races.
Offcourse I will, but I have just paid for the hull and waiting for BHHanson 35cc engine (oh yessss 35cc rocks for FSR-O 35 class)
So as soon I have something to show I will post it here, the problem is that it takes around a month or two just to recieve the hull and the engine from the manufacturer.

In a while here is some more of the apache ;) Again as you can see these are ols pics no vanish and graphics are not finished, sorry can not post up to date images - the boat is at the workshop!
