best guess would be homemade mounts, and looks like you'll need an adapter collet for the flex shaft(works like a compression fitting and clamps onto the motor shaft and flex shaft)but theres a lot of other guys who know more than me so they'll be more help.good luck. CB

With a PTO side flywheel/Fan, getting it low enough for a boat is going to be really tough.
It is doable like the homelites were once done. Your really kinda on your own having to fabricate something one off for your application.

If you remove the clutch and find out what thread the output on the crank is you can buy a ready made collet to fit im sure.On mine i used a cmb .90 collet as it had the same m8 thread. You will need to remove the tank too to get it nice and low, then fab your own mounts etc.I would put the shroud back on too to help direct the cooling air where its needed if you can.Heres some pics of the last one i did for someone.I also fitted an exhaust adapter i made from ali billet so i could use a tuned pipe.

Thanks for the reply and the pictures, Martno1fan, i,ve got some ideas for the mounts after looking at yours. What kind of plating did you use, looking at the photos it almost looks like galvanized steel from an electrical junction box. The fitting on the shaft is a female 7 tooth opening and measures about 5/16" diameter. Is their a flex cable that is set up this way? from what I have found its either square or round.
I was thinking of cutting the drive shaft from the trimmer and getting a flex coupler that would be adapter to the proper flex drive. Is this a good idea.

Also, whats the bracket just over the driveshaft for in your last photo?

Hi can you post a pic of your output shaft? i think the part your talking about will maybe come off ?.You will deff need some kind of collet be it square or round. The bracket you mentioned on my last pic i asume you mean the t bar with the little oiler? thats there to keep the flex tube from moving you can make a plywood tube holder also,as for the mounts i used alluminium angle.

Just looked at your pics again right your talking about the output hole on the clutch yes? ,id ditch the clutch it only robs what little power you have. Then get a collet to match the threads on the motors output shaft, mine was m8 yours may be the same im not sure.
