I'll chime in here... I've run a CY 26 for a year and a half of racing and it has held up pretty well, though I did replace one cylinder that cracked right after it was running its fastest ever GPS'ed speed... around 56.8 in my mono.
I run an older Aeromarine Challenger 48 Deep Vee mono and have received a lot of flack over that hull ...not to mention the fact that I also have a clutch in it. When I first met people who saw my boat running (I like the scale look) , they were like get rid of that unstable POS , lol. But I eventually got it tamed down and more competitive to the point where guys couldn't believe how well it runs with the CY in it. I do think the 2-bolt is a weak-spot , but I replaced my gasket with a copper one from the very start, always use loctite and never had any blowouts.
Incidentally Lohring, didn't realize you guys were running a CY27 at the SAW. I tried out several thicknesses of gaskets ..tested by my local engine guru ...and the engine actually preferred the thicker one (same as stock or slightly thicker) to the thinner ones , for some reason.
The reason I bought the CY26 in the first place was because I mistakenly thought I'd be able to run in a stock mono class and have an advantage over a stock Zenoah . I obviously didn't know that class really didn't exist in NAMBA monos, save for rookie canister class, whose engines can still be modded.
All in all, mine has been pretty reliable, is usually easy to start, provides good upgraded power right out of the box and comes with mounts and throttle lever to save you some $$. That being said , I have a modified Zenoah in my Hydro which has greater speed and RPM with good reliability and I am looking forward to getting my hands on one of CC Racing's powerplants in the near future!
