tubs between 40 & 48" pending 3 or 4 point designs.

My Road Runner spec 4 point is @ 45" OAL, my old 3 point closer to 48" OAL

I have found that anywhere in the vicinity of 42 to 45 inches is usually on the mark. Antthing too much shorter will dig in on launch and you will have to wiggle the rudder to get it up on plane. (been there, done that)

I just measured my Midwest epoxy rig, it has only 38" length of the tub, shortest and lightest weight I have ever seen.

Funny, I had a PHM viper piece of crap,,,That was the one and only rigger I could pull a wheelie on command..Didn't matter if it was 1/4 throttle or 1/2..even 3/4 throttle,,The S.O.B would stand up on end. Everyone on the bank took running,,that rigger was only 38" if I remember correctly. Junk

Scott,

I noticed this rig lost about 2.5mph from the top speed since I painted two coats of epoxy on its sponsons but I wasn't sure about it, so I sent the motor back to Hanson to check everything out, as Al told me there wasn't a major problem on it but he still put few new parts in like gasket, oil seal, a ring and clean up for in case, ran it again from last week but the speed only stucked at 78-78.4 mph as it was 81 mph all day long before. I have a question for you Scott, this Hornet's 257 carb has been running almost two years and never changed the diaphragm, I used 9 once Honda oil and 87 Octanc gas all the time, Should I change the diaphragm? Thanks, Ken

After a few years running, while not necessarily where your power went ... certainly can't hurt !

After a few coats of paint and now slower .... Get on the sponsons with a nice flat sanding block and some 600 grit and re-square up the inside edges and trailing edges. Make sure the planing surfaces as well have no lumps and bumps.
Even a slightly rolled / rounded edge from paint build up will cause suction having hull run just a tad wetter.

Will grab a few to replace that part in the carb, motor is still running strong compression like new, hey Scott, the good thing is your were advising me how to fix that paint on the sponsons, that is a really good idea but I got to get them back cause I've already put them in to the trash can. Thanks, Ken
