Engine Mounts and engine angle

I'm working on a wave rider moldings "comet". I was told it is a close design of Zippkiits Rivett. But when mounting the tiger king into the hull I can not get the engine to line up to the shaft log location, the front engine rail is not tall enough. What options do I have?

You can try different mounts, make a drop mount, or add to the rail height. Stare at it and get creative.
This mount is only for mock up and will not be used due to the welded mounting ears. This mount doubles as my power spark sensor mount. Not installed in this pic, but it also has a TDC pointer on the top left. When you put your mind to it a custom mount is nothing to fab. Once a long time ago guys fabricated the mounts we all use today. Nothing to it. My actual mount is off for powder coating, thats why this one is shown.

The Marine Specialties mount might work. It's also available from Seducer . I usually make a new angle with two holes into the rail to keep it from rotating.

Might be easier to make a new stuffing tube to accommodate the current motor mount.
Just giving you another option.

If the the front needs to go higher than the rail height I am guessing that the rear needs to go down to mate to the height of the lower stuffing tube.
If it is all setup up somebody had it lined up there with the rails the way they are. Are you sure it wasn't maybe setup with a rear drop mount originally. ????

Just getting the front up may not get the engine on the same plane as the stuffing tube.

It isn't just the shaft having to go into the collet but the whole crank shaft must be same angle as the last 4" of stuffing tube.
You don't want and mismatch of angle or it will fatigue the cable between the collet and stuffing tube after a bit and it will fail twist up in a knot and come apart.

For this reason you always mount the engine then set the stuffing tube with a solid piece of rod in the collet and up in the stuffing tube sleeve before it get glassed in.

If you are going to retain the stuffing tube as is use a straight piece of rod and neck it up with tubing or a spare bushing then slide the engine with the solid into the stuffing tube if you have room. Or put the solid in the stuffing tube first then slide the engine collet on it and push it all the way in the collet and tighten it up. Now when you mark out your mounts it will insure it is perfectly in line with the stuffing tube.

Daniel, I have a 1/4" X 4" bolt minus the threads (1") and the head, this is inserted into my collet / pulley from Zippkits. I made a section of tube with an oil cup 11/32"dia X 6" (shaft log), inserted into this I have a section of 5/16" tube. The 5/16 has a section of 11/32 soldered to it (setup distance stuffing tube to collet) I have my engine sitting on a piece of 1/8" luan, at roughly 15*.
The hull does not have a slot cut for the shaft log yet, but I want it short and from just behind the sponsons for hopefully less than 4 "

I think I will have to take photos after I get home from work.
