Stinger Drive versus Strut Support set up?

Make no mistake about it Scott....

I've seen a lot of your postings within this excellent forum.

You (among others) know what you are talking about.

I value that.

Just for a further point of interest:

Two factors I think that significantly increased the speed of my mono was taking the stock CNC rudder blade and the turn fins and making them Razor sharp. Not as in the original photos.

When my twin brother’s Mimami 55 spun out in front of me we didn’t even realise that our boats had made contact.

He wondered how he’d suffered some damage. One of my turn fins (plus my rudder blade) had in fact clipped his rear end.
This was the damage caused to his boat: This image was shot after removing some of the section that initially looked as though someone had sliced it with a sharp blade.

This did remind us never to attempt to stop a mono hull with bare hands!

Regards
Craig

Wow, Craig!

This is scaring stuff and makes one remember the power we let go with these boats!
Thanks for the pic and the info.
It also makes you realise that modelgasboating is much more than playing with toys.

Cheers! :cheer:

I think a stinger drive is a lot more used friendly, If you want to make an adjustment with a strut, you loosen the screws and decide "THAT'S ABOUT RIGHT" and retighten the screws. To make the same adjustment on a stinger you have an adjusting screw in on the drive.

But who am I to say either is better? I make stinger drives.

Hi Guys.

We designed this new strut in RSA and it really is working well with 100% reliability. If anyone would like more info, just drop a mail and we will get back to you.

Thanks for the comment. We only have them being used in RSA at the moment but hope to soon have some boaters using it in the US. Really great quality, made by local SA boater who have their own engineering business and who race as well.

The flatspot op the propshaft is a NO-NO .

Flat and sharp means breakage .. maybe not with a singe engine

but on a twin it's asking for trouble.

Don't use the END of the mill-bit ... but use the side.

Making a nice ROUND dent.

And PEEK(mod)with carbon & teflon added is the superior thrustbearing material.
