Dumas Big Swamp Buggy

Is there a weed whacker engine out there that would be small enough to the fit Big Swamp Buggy? The reason I ask is I have one still in the box, never had the confidence to build it the directions suck, I'm just plain fed up with nitro, It's expensive, hard to get for me, I live 150 miles from the nearest hobby store that carried anything over 15%, and the engines are a pain to tune. I have fell in love with the ease of gas. Parts, and gas are readily available, and they are a lot easier to tune..

What is a Swamp Buggy? do u have pictures or a link??

Swamp boats work best with aircraft engines that do not have air ducts and fans on the flywheel to cool them. You could use a trimmer engine engine but you would be loosing alot of power driving a prop and a fan. There are some nice 20cc gasoline aircraft engines out there not sure in that boat they would be too much?

Since you already have the kit and want to go gas which in most instances
is a larger engine than nitro, why not just use the kit as a plan set
and upscale them to maybe a 43" - 48" version of the same boat. I
think this size boat would handle any Homey or other gas engine timed
for 8,000 - 10,000 RPM Max (like a gas airplane engine). One of the
tuned pipes like the gas outboards run might fit as well.

Cutting out the pieces with a jigsaw is easy. And no full size, 5 HP,
professional grade saw is needed to do it. I have a 5 HP Craftsman which
I love for full size boat work but it is so heavy my hands get tired quick
when cutting out R/C boat parts. I bought a Harbor Freight #46055 just for
R/C boats (much lighter saw weight) and my hands last a lot longer when
doing numerous small parts.

Several people have built these fan boats and have a blast running them.
Be sure and put a cage on that prop. Having one of those big honkin'
props bite your hand is no fun!
