Here is a little vid of it in action. You can see the electric start working.

Cool how did you manage to rig up an electric start? I am interested in doing one for my boat.
Thanks

Loved the vid. If I can get mine to run half as good I will be happy.

Hi Chomper.

Nice vid, though I think you can get the boat more speedy by doing some trimming. ;)
I love the electric start. I could get one for my Blata too, but there is no space for such fun in a "small" and very narrow 56 inches mono with a huge engine. :(
Surely a good job. But to be honest: Get some better finish on that boat, and you'll make it a star.

Cheers! :cheer:

Woodie.

Thanks guys, It deff needs a paint job now. That will come soon enough though. I wanted to get all of the bugs worked out first. Still gotta little work to do because the adaptor that I made to connect the flex shaft to the clutch gave up on me today. I was able to ease it back to shore so no problem but I need to come up with something better for this. I never got full throttle in the video, about 3/4 at most. Also I dont have a tune pipe on it yet, this was Just a make shift exhaust untill I can get a good tuned pipe made up. So it should be nice after I get all the bugs worked out.

bshey,

The mini chopper motorcycle that I got this motor off of already had electric start so it was all there, all I did was use the 3rd channel on my radio to move a servo to actuate a starter button I hooked up inside the boat. I used a 14.8v 5000 lipo for the power for the electric start to save wieght on a big 12v battery. Starts faster than a big battery. I could actually probably cut the battery back to like a 2500 to shave some more weight. i just used the 5000 because I already had it from my truggy that I race. I also plan to put a bec in the boat later so that I can use the same batter for electric start and radio gear so I dont have to run a little reciever battery. I ran it for like 15 mins today and only used a 1/4 tank so want to be able to run along time on my electronics battery in the boat so I can run a full tank at a time through it.
