My smokin' Cigarette. was created by
Hi, I am Woody, the new guy in this street. (I am danish, so please excuse my english) :)
My project is an off-shore cigarette-type deep vee racer.
56 x 12 inches and all build in wood. No nails, no screws, no glassfibre. Only finnish plywood glued together on a 1 inch laminated keel.
No drawings used. I build homemade from sketch and from scratch.
My goal is to get a somehow heavvy offshore boat suitet for rough saltwaters.
Speed must be at least 100 km/h, and much more under calm conditions.
The plan is to put an 11 or 16 hp watercooled 2-stroke Blata engine in it. Probably with a gearbox for 2 propellers.

I hope somebody can help me with advices about engine mounting, powerful fittings etc.. (No hurry - I expect testsailing in the early spring 2011. All competition should be blown out of the water at that time)

Some pics here, if I can make it work. Hope you like them. I will follow up with more, as the project rolls on.

Great build Woodie and I like the "Purist" thinking in your plan. Please keep up the build log and the pictures coming too. Love to see the progress.

Hi Woody,
Nice work, that is a good traditional approach you have in your build. I beleive you will be correct about the hull being heavy.
Heep up the good work and continue to show the build progress. :)

Below are pictures of the #3 35 foot Cigarette, Dry Martini. It was built for two time offshore world champion, Carlo Bonomi, in 1973. Notice the difference between it and the 36 foot earlier model that was much more common.

Nice wood build. She looks heavy duty! Lohring is the Dry Martini the boat you will be racing off the English coast later this summer?
