Help with some Hull building

Hello everybody. I am new here. I want to build the 48' Deep V up in Resources-Plans. I however, noticed a lack of dimensions in the plans. Could anybody help me? I am just looking for the dimensions of each piece so that i can cut the pieces out of wood. Building itself is no problem. Thanks, I appreciate it.

I don't know about this boat either.
Will it be built in plywood?
If you have the plans without measurements, and you KNOW the length of the hull, it should be possible to calculate a formula to get a 1:1 drawing.
It's not that difficult, when you get the math right. If the real length is X,YY times the actual length on the drawing, you just "zoom" to the right 1:1 size by calculating the difference = the X,YY factor and put it on paper. The same X,YY factor you can use on all the profile measurements in with and depth and lenght.
It WILL take some time and precision - plus a calculator, a ruler, sharp pencils and big sheets of paper.

It's a difficult thing to explain, but I hope this was helpfull.

Im doing the Deep V boat.

I am building the prowler boat right now. What i did was use a CAD program or at least a program that lets you look at DXF files and print them off actual size. All the dxf files are in the right dimensions. Once you print them off just tape the pages together and you are ready to go. Or you could take them to a place that does large printing such as a sign shop and have them print them out. That was my original plan but i didn't want to wait for them to do it.

I almost forgot, i bought some cheap spray can glue (3 dollars) to stick the paper to the wood while i cut the pieces out. Then it just peels off or sands off real easy.

Cool. Is there some free CAD program that I could download for mac? One that i could import the plans into?

Also, what would be the best glue to glue the bits of wood together to form the boat. I plan to use luan plywood. Once the hull is finished and sanded down, I want to Cover it with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. Is this the right choice? What thickness cloth should i use and where do i buy i from? What about the resin, what is the best one? Thanks for your help guys!

Hi bshey.

To glue the wooden parts I strongly recommend you to use PU-glue (polyurethane). Read the instructions: It always works best if you spray a little water on the wood before glueing. It is very forgiving and will even glue small inaccuracies. Excessive glue will foam up, and will be easy to remove with a scraper or a knife and a little sanding.

About glassfibre and epoxy I am not wiser than you, but I intend to use some 80 g / square meter woven (stretchable) matt together with some 105 epoxy from West Systems.
Allways paint on a layer of epoxy and sand it smooth before laying the glassfibre matt on. But DON'T take this as the only good advice.

Great, thanks! Where are you getting the fiberglass matt from? I am looking for fiberglass cloth at a pretty cheap price.
