Gone even further in making shorties.
Cut off ALL the straight shank down to the flange that compress's the spring, re-slit the flange with a fine tooth hack saw blade ;)

This is a VERY confined cowl area !!

Nice, i like the simple things that makes things easier.
How about making it a philipshead instead of a single slot? Philipshead makes it easier to adjust the needles with engine is running and the carb vibrates a lot. A philipshead will hold the screwdriver easier in place.

If you use fuel/water line over the needles... just make them a little longer then the needle. That helps keep the screwdriver in the groove with the tubing holding onto it.
